It is part of platinum's belage pen series (sort of rhymes with garage) and it came in several variations, and some came with various patterns etched into the finish. This one ahs a smooth brushed finish in stainless steel. It had the modle number pmb 5000 which was later changed to pmb 7000. This is a full size pen, and a bit fatter than most fountains fo the time. It is also a fairly heavy pen. The design is very simple and streamlned, and was very popular in japan.

Most fountain pens haev a cap which is fatter than the barrel. This pen is designed in such a way that when oyu post the cap, it forms a smooth, unbroken line with the barrel and is nicely balanced. This is a very solid fountain pen.

With some pens you must eb very careful not to drop them lesst they scratch up or even shatter. With this pen, there are no such worries, and brushed stainless steel always oloks better with use. You will be more concerned about damage to your toes if you drop this pen. Over 30 stroke kanjithe nib is 14k white gold (wg) a medium point, which is not as common on japanese pens as fine nibs where common kanji characters can have over 20 strokes, and uncommon ones can go over 30 strokes. The kanji for fine (chu) si imprinted on the nib. This nib will give you a healthy consistent line. Platinum nibs are a bit more fine than other makers' nibs, and this one is closer to a western fine nib.
